Hodges Tackles Fan Honor

For the second time this season PSU linebacker Gerald Hodges has been honored as the Player of the Game by Nittany Nation fans.

Gerald Hodges was honored for a second time by Penn State fans with the Fight On State Player of the Game Award for his Northwestern game performance. Hodges grabbed a career-high 14 tackles (8 solo), 1.5 sacks, 1.5 TFL, one interception for 63 yards.

See him talk about his interception here.

Previously Hodges was also named Player of the Indiana Game.

The honor was a hard-fought victory for the linebacker, who was neck-in-neck with running back Silas Redd. Hodges ended up with 41 percent of the fan vote to Redd's 36 percent.

Redd also had a career day with 18 carries for 164 yards (9.1 YPC) and one touchdown.

Here are some fan comments on the voting:

"Silas Redd was the MVP of the first half. Hodges was the MVP of the second half."

"Too bad we can't split our votes...like Joe used to do in the coaches poll."

"I went with Hodges. Watching some highlights and the PSFS, he was just such a beast. I didn't really realize at the game just how well he had played."

"Hodges for me too. He has stepped his game up immensely since Mauti went down."

The FOS Player of the Game honor is the first and only award given to Penn State players by Penn State fans. Voting is exclusively conducted on FightOnState.com after every PSU football game.
