Taking Time Off To Think

Chad Henne, one of the most sought-after signal callers in the nation, will announce his final 5 teams at a press conference next month. When is he planning to make a final decision expected?

Name: Chad Henne
Position: QB
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 210 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.7
School: Wilson HS, West Lawn, PA

On Wednesday, Penn State coach Jay Paterno took his second trip this month to Wilson High School. There was some speculation that Joe Paterno was scheduled to visit Wilson that day.

"Joe wasn't scheduled to come out," Coach Cantafio said when LionNews spoke with him Thursday morning. "There was talk that he may, but obviously he did not. Jay came down."

What did Jay Paterno have to say?

"The same as always. Obviously, he's high on their list and someone they need to get."

The Nittany Lion coaching staff has done all they can to acquiesce the signature of Chad Henne in February.

"They've done a very good job. There's nothing more they can do, and so has everybody else. Right now, as I'm talking to you, Florida State's here and Ohio State's here.

"What we're going to do is have a press conference probably the second week of June. Most likely, right now as I look at it, it's going to be Wednesday afternoon the 11th of June. He's going to announce his top five at that point in time and he's going to do interviews and then we're going to cut him off. After that, there won't be any interviews given until August. That would be the only time media will be allowed to call him for the rest of June and July.

"Chad hopes to make some type of decision sometime before his first football game which would be the last Friday in the month of August."
