Hodges Grabs Second Consecutive POG Honor

Gerald Hodges has been awarded his second Player of the Game honor in as many weeks from Penn State fans.

With 19 tackles (six solo), one sack, one TFL and one forced fumble, Gerald Hodges was honored by Penn State fans for the second consecutive week as their Player of the Game, this time against Illinois.

Last week, Hodges was named as the Player of the Northwestern Game thanks to his 14 tackles, (eight solo), 1.5 sacks, 1.5 TFL and one interception.

This time Hodges managed to edge out running back Silas Redd who had 30 carries for 137 yards and one game-winning touchdown. Hodges ended up with 42 percent of the fan vote compared to Redd's 29 percent.

Here are some fan comments on Hodges' performance:

"I love Silas, but my game ball goes to Hodges. No defense - no W!"

"Went with Hodges. I was displeased with him a few weeks ago, but he has really, really turned his game up."

"I ended up picking Hodges, again. He's just been flat out un-stoppable as of late. A legit terror at LB."

"I voted for Hodges. He should have also had a pick 6 in the first quarter. He is playing lights out right now."

The Fight On State Player of the Game Award is the first and only honor given to Penn State players by Penn State fans. Voting is conducted exclusively at FightOnState.com after every Penn State football game.
