Stanko's Senior Season

2012 Howland HS OL Anthony Stanko was the first commitment of the Penn State Class of 2012, and he talks to Fight On State about a recent visit and how his senior season is shaping up.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for Penn State commit Anthony Stanko.

"We are 9-0," Stanko said of his Howland HS team. "I am ready to play again, we were on bye last week."

And after a bye week, the Warren, Ohio native is feeling refreshed.

"I am feeling great," Stanko said. "I've really improved as the year has gone on, and I have no aches or pains."

He added, "I am ready for five more games."

Five more games would carry Howland HS to the state championship game, a journey that continues Friday.

"We went to Akron to practice on Wednesday," Stanko said. "To get used to the field and the stadium, we are playing there Friday night against Kent Roosevelt."

Another thing that Stanko did during his bye week, was visit Penn State.

"It was a lot of fun," Stanko said. "The snow didn't bother me a bit, it was just really cold."

And for Stanko, the game was worth braving the snow.

"It was a really good game to watch as well," Stanko said. "I was so excited while Illinois missed the field goal at the end. I think the student section made them miss."

A visit that was similar to the rest, but none the less Stanko enjoyed.

"Besides walk around in the snow it was pretty similar to the other visits," Stanko said. "I love it there, I would go to every game if I could."

Something the 2012 commit will be doing, before he knows it.
