The Searchers

Penn State announces the committee that will be tasked with finding recently fired head football coach Joe Paterno's replacement.

Penn State has announced its search committee to find a replacement for longtime football coach Joe Paterno, the university announced Monday.

PSU president Rod Erickson appointed acting athletic director Dave Joyner to head the search committee. Also on the committee are:

• Linda Caldwell, Penn State faculty athletics representative

• Charmelle Green, Penn State associate athletic director and senior woman administrator

• Ira Lubert, chairman and co-founder, Independence Capital Partners and Lubert Adler Partners

• John Nichols, emeritus professor, Penn State College of Communications, and chair, Coalition on Intercollegiate Athletics

• Russ Rose, head coach, Penn State women's volleyball team.

The release, which did not mention Paterno, said the committee will meet this week. Paterno was fired Nov. 9 in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
