Lynch Picks Lions

2012 running back Akeel Lynch made it official Sunday after his visit to Penn State — he's a Nittany Lion.

It was a weekend that finalized Akeel Lynch's college decision.

"It went real well," Lynch said of his official visit to Penn State. "You can see the importance of football at Penn State, I got to meet people on the academic side which I really enjoyed."

But it wasn't just that that helped Lynch decide.

"I like they direction they are heading," Lynch said. "And I like the philosophy they have and what they are doing with Penn State."

Lynch's recruitment had picked up over the last several weeks, drawing interest and offers from Iowa, Oklahoma among others – but it was the Lions that landed him in the end.

"I was kind of waiting for Penn State to get a head coach," Lynch said. "Because I have been a fan since I was a kid."

And a big part of his decision came down to his position coach, Mike London.

"He's a really good guy," Lynch said of London. "I like the way he teaches, and he told me his philosophy and I agree with it 100%."

He added, "I like his personality, so it went real well."

"They were ecstatic," Lynch said. "They like the skill set I bring to the table an they think that I will fit in well with their offense."

Lynch visited with his mom, and she left just as impressed.

"My mom loved it," Lynch said. "She just loved the whole thing, the academics, the football, she loved it all."

But what was Lynch's favorite part of the visit?

"I think just getting the tour around the stadium," Lynch said. "It's a beautiful stadium. Its amazing."

And now, Lynch is a Lion – and happy to have put an end to the whole process.

"Overall this whole thing was exhilarating," Lynch said of the recruiting process. "But I am glad its over so I can start a new chapter in my life."

And that new chapter, will be at Penn State.
