Top Hoop Prospect Picks Lions

Last summer, Chambers lured former Philly star D.J. Newbill to Happy Valley as a transfer from Southern Mississippi. In the early signing period in November, Penn State landed Trenton standout Brandon Taylor.

Now comes news that 6-foot-6, 170-pound wing Brandon Austin of Imhotep Institute in Philadelphia has committed to Penn State. One of the top prospects for the Class of 2013, he holds a four-star ranking from and is considered the 16th-best small forward in the country.

Austin announced his decision via Twitter. The Harrisburg Patriot-News has since confirmed.

"Brandon Austin is a very good athlete on the wing who knows how to score," recruiting analyst Brian Snow said. "This is a big-time get for Penn State and Coach Chambers. He is one of the best players in the city of Philadelphia, and had some of the traditional eastern powers after him. Overall very impressive to lock this kid up early on in the process.
