Hurst Jr. Talks Penn State Trip

2013 defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. gives Fight On State the latest from his recruiting visit to Happy Valley.

Four-star defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr., visited Penn State Friday, and came away impressed.

"It went great," Hurst said. "Coach O'Brien and Coach Johnson are great."

He added, "I like them both a lot even though Coach O'Brien went to my rival school."

A northeastern bond the two share, and both can laugh about.

"He went to the school we play every thanksgiving Saint Johns Prep," Hurst said with a laugh. "I told him we got him this year."

Hurst enjoyed his visit to State College – but one thing stood out from the rest.

"My mom and I went to visit and I just took a tour of all the facilities," Hurst said. "My favorite part was the weight room and how they are evolving it to be the best possible."

Even though he is high on the Lions. Right now, Hurst is on hold with Penn State.

"They just told me that they know I can play for them," Hurst said. "But it's just the numbers game and they want to offer offensive players right now."

But Penn State is far from out of the picture.

"They said they may offer me later if they find out they have one available," Hurst said.

In the meantime, Hurst continues his spring break tour of colleges.

"I will visit Virginia Saturday, and then University of North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State," Hurst said.
