We just got done about a week ago, and I just started to get the football back in my hands when our team started some spring stuff, Hackenberg said. I'm kind of one of those guys that is pretty solid wherever, but I mainly play center field and shortstop.
Hackenberg will start camping soon, though, as he said he plans on attending the Elite 11 in Las Vegas.
I'm really excited, it's a great opportunity to showcase my abilities, Hackenberg said. But I'm also going to learn a lot, and that's a big factor with the Elite 11, just learning from it.
Hackenberg will then travel with future teammate Adam Breneman to a camp in Georgia.
We're both really excited to go to that to start working on our timing together and all that, Hackenberg said.
It won't be the only time Hackenberg and the tight end Breneman use to continue to build their chemistry.
I'll probably spend the week after that with Adam, since my grandparents live about an hour away from where he lives, Hackenberg said. So we'll just continue to create that bond.
As for the rest of the summer, Hackenberg said he plans to get ready with his Fork Union team for its upcoming season and may even play some club baseball.
I had a few teams calling me wanting to play, and it's hard because I love baseball, but my focus is football now, Hackenberg said. That being said, I feel it's good to play so I don't get burnt out with football.
I drop those guys a message on Facebook sometimes just to let them know we are still thinking about them, Hackenberg said. They're both quiet kids, so it's hard to get a vibe from them, but I know Dorian's been going back and forth between us and Pitt and I'm pretty sure we're in Robert's top three.
