Cothran Latest to Reaffirm to PSU

The Philadelphia area defensive end made his intentions knows to the Nittany Lion staff Monday.

Council Rock High defensive end Curtis Cothran senses something unique is the air at University Park, and he doesn’t want to miss out on it. So on Monday afternoon, the Penn State Class of 2013 prospect from suburban Philadelphia called his recruiting contact — secondary coach John Butler — to reaffirm his commitment to the Nittany Lions.

“I feel like there is something special going on no one realizes,” Cothran said Monday night. “And that’s why I decided to stay put.”

Cothran is the eighth Class of 2013 commitment who has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Nittany Lions. There others are Adam Breneman, Brendan Mahon, Garrett Sickles, Christian Hackenberg, Andrew Nelson and Will Fuller, who all reaffirmed last weekend on campus; and Neiko Robinson, who confirmed his intentions to stay with the Nittany Lions earlier last week.

The decision by those previous seven helped Cothran make up his mind.

“I talked to a couple of them, and I saw that they were all in, too, which made my decision easy,” Cothran said.

The senior-to-be said Butler was thrilled upon hearing his decision.

“He just told me I made a great decision,” Cothran said.

Cothran will visit Penn State sometime in the future. He could stop by before the 2012 season starts. But he will definitely make it to campus for a least one game during the season.

“I plan on visiting at some point.” he said. “I’m just working on figuring all that out.”
