LionNews had the opportunity to speak to James Justice, the father of J.J. Justice, last Thursday.
According to Mr. Justice, J.J. threw for over 1,000 yards and 21 touchdowns, and rushed for an additional 800 yards and 15 touchdowns, in helping Norwich Free Academy to a perfect 11-0 record before ultimately losing in the state championship game.
He stated that J.J. has scholarship offers from Connecticut, Syracuse, Boston College, Penn State, Maryland and Purdue. South Carolina may have offered as well. Iowa, Michigan State, Virginia, Indiana and Notre Dame are some of the others expressing interest.
Most schools, including Penn State, are recruiting J.J. to play on the defensive side of the ball, at either safety or linebacker.
James Justice said his son's top 3 schools are Maryland, Penn State and Boston College with the Nittany Lions and Terrapins slightly ahead of the Eagles. He also went on to say that Maryland is probably slightly ahead of Penn State because J.J. wants to major in Criminal Science and Maryland has the best or one of the best Criminal Science programs. They did not yet have any information on Penn State's Criminal Justice program.
Justice' father did admit that J.J.'s preference is to play in a warmer weather climate. They are interested to see which southern schools express interest.
They like Virginia a lot (they've visited there 3 times) because they have family down there, but as of last week, the Cavaliers had not yet offered. A Virginia offer could vault them into the top 2.
