TEMPLE: Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short as the Nittany Lions dispatched the Owls yet again? We let you know in our weekly report card.

Our report card from Penn State's 24-13 win over Temple at Beaver Stadium Saturday.

OVERALL: This was a nice win. But the score should not have been so close.
Grade: B-

OFFENSE: Bill O'Brien was the first to admit that Penn State should have tallied more points. The Lions had another red-zone turnover.
Grade: B-

DEFENSE: Ted Roof's troops held Temple without a TD until the game was out of reach.
Grade: B+

SPECIAL TEAMS: A rough outing by P Alex Butterworth offset a nice effort by PR Jesse Della Valle.
Grade: C

COACHING: O'Brien and company seemed to have a handle on things all afternoon.
Grade: B-

INTANGIBLES: This game had the feel of so many Penn State-Temple outings through the years -- like there was no way the Lions were going to lose.
Grade: A

OTHER GUY: Think Temple fans are nervous about the post-Al Golden, post-MAC era? We can see the program going South in a hurry.
Grade: D+

OFFICIALS: A phantom offensive pass interference call. A phantom late-hit call. A phantom fumble call (that was overturned by review). Are the NFL replacement refs available for the PSU-Illinois game?
Grade: F

CROWD: Serious demerits here for the student section using profanity in certain chants.
Grade: C
