B-W Game: Meet RB Akeel Lynch

We were on hand when the redshirt freshman met the media for the first time at Penn State. What was it like redshirting? Why does he wear No. 22? And how did he get the name, "Big Maple?" Check out the video to see.

Redshirt freshman running back Akeel Lynch was one of the offensive stars of Penn State's Blue-White Game at Beaver Stadium Saturday. He carried 13 times for 83 yards and a score, with a long rush of 27 yards.

He was every bit as impressive during his first trip to the Media Room after the game. Sitting in the back corner, Lynch had a wide smile on his face as he answered question after question.

He talked about playing before a crowd at Beaver Stadium for the first time. He talked about redshirting in 2012, and how much it helped him. He talked about how he landed the No. 22, which has been worn by some of the top backs in PSU history.

And he talked about his nickname, “Big Maple.”

That's right, we said, “The Big Maple.”

Get the lowdown on that and so much more in our video interview above.
