Two-time All-American Shane Conlan is the guest of honor at the 15th Annual Mary and Joe Moon Golf Classic. Conlan and a host of former Penn State players, including Trey Bauer, Keith Conlin and Wally Richardson, will be on hand at a reception at MaGerk's in Fort Washington (get directions here) Thursday night starting at 5 p.m.
The event, which is open to the public, will include a silent auction featuring unique Penn State memorabilia. There will also be a special edition of The Goon Show Podcast from 7-9 p.m. Nittany Lion fans are encouraged to attend to mingle with the former players and help out with a great cause.
The golf tournament is Friday.
The two-day event is dedicated to the late Mary and Joe Conlin, who were the parents of former PSU starting offensive linemen Chris, Keith and Kevin Conlin, as well as La Salle basketball standout Craig Conlin. In all the couple had eight children.
Mary Conlin died in 1999, and the tournament was started in her honor shortly thereafter. Joe Moon Conlin passed away earlier this year.
Money raised via the tournament and related events is used to assist the educational needs of children whose families' financial situations have been impacted by illness or other circumstances beyond their control.
