It may look as if Montae Nicholson is playing linebacker in some frames of the cut-ups above, but the senior from Gateway (Monroeville, Pa.) High is not.
Instead, he's merely popping into the box from his safety position, something he felt necessary early in a 21-0 never-in-doubt victory over Altoona (Pa.) High last Friday. It came with good reason.
Due to injury, the Mountain Lions were forced to start a player at quarterback who, before Friday night, had never taken a snap under center in his life. It meant Altoona (1-3) force fed the Gators a heavy diet of running back and Class of 2015 prospect Kevin Givens. To feast, Nicholson had to bump up.
The Scout four-star safety has yet to decide where he will continue his football career, but he does know he will decide after he takes all five of his official visits. Michigan State (Sept. 7), Pittsburgh (Sept. 28), Florida State (Oct. 5) and Oregon (Oct. 26) make up the first four of his five stops. Where he will go for his final official is yet to be determined. He added that he may visit Penn State "for a game or two" before deciding, but those plans aren't set in stone, either.
Fight On State was on hand at Mansion Park last Friday, and has cut-ups of Nicholson's evening above.
