#PSUvsMICH: Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short in Penn State's big quadruple overtime win over the Wolverines at Beaver Stadium? We offer our grades right here.

Our report card for Penn State's marathon 43-40 win over Michigan.

OVERALL: No, this was not a perfect game. But after a brutal loss at Indiana, we wanted to see if Penn State had what it took to get it done in the clutch. The Lions obviously did. For this grade, the sum is better than the total of the parts.
Grade: A

OFFENSE: Again, when it mattered most, PSU did what it had to do. That trumps a lot of the bad stuff.
Grade: B-

DEFENSE: Say what you will about regulation. In four OTs, Penn State gave up six points.
Grade: B

SPECIAL TEAMS: DT Kyle Baublitz picked a great time to block the first field goal of his career.
Grade: B

COACHING: Bill O'Brien and his staff did not let the players quit. Not after a tough loss to IU. Not after trailing by 10 in the fourth quarter Saturday.
Grade: B

INTANGIBLES: This team made things happen when it had to.
Grade: A+

OTHER GUY: Devin Gardner is one hell of a player. And Michigan played with a lot of heart, too.
Grade: B

OFFICIALS: So many PI calls in big situations.
Grade: C

CROWD: Not sure PSU can afford 107,884 game balls. But the folks in the stands all deserve one.
Grade: A+
