Thomas Flips to Penn State

The Maryland RB commit reversed field and is now headed to Happy Valley. He hails from the Boston area.

Running back Johnathan Thomas of St. John's Prep in Danvers, Mass., committed to Maryland in May.

Sunday, he reversed field and committed to Penn State.

"I'm very excited and blessed to be part of the Penn State family," he said in a text to FOS recruiting reporter Greg Pickel. "Penn State has always been my dream school and it is truly a blessing to know that I will be getting an outstanding education and playing football at Penn State University."

Thomas is the third running back to verbally commit to State's class of 2014, joining Fairfax (Va.) back Nick Scott and Dematha (Hyattsville, Md.) High's Mark Allen.

With the addition, Penn State has moved to 28th in Scout's team rankings for the class of 2014 as of Oct. 21.
