REPORTS: OB's Texas Two Step

Penn State's second-year coach is headed to the NFL's Houston Texans, according to multiple national media outlets.

Oh where have you gone, Billy boy, Billy boy?

In the case of second-year Penn State coach Bill O'Brien, all signs are pointing to the NFL's Houston Texans. On New Year's Eve, multiple national media outlets reported that O'Brien had agreed to become the Texans' next head coach.

FOS texts to O'Brien were not returned. And when approached at the Penn State-Michigan State men's basketball game at the Jordan Center earlier Tuesday -- before the news of O'Brien going to the Texans broke -- PSU athletic director Dave Joyner declined comment.

Further, of the commitments for the Class of 2014 FOS reached as of this writing, none had heard anything from O'Brien or anyone on his PSU staff regarding his apparent departure to Houston. One current player, who requested we not use his name, said O'Brien had contacted him and other Lions to confirm the news, but after the story broke.

ESPN.com broke the story after 9 p.m. Tuesday, saying “the deal is expected to be announced no later than Saturday.” ESPN cited “league sources.”
