The Lions staff was completed earlier Wednesday evening when former Vanderbilt offensive line coach arrived in State College. Outside of cornerbacks coach Terry Smith and running backs coach Charles Huff, the rest of State's new staff will be all former Commodores.
With that, we jump into Thursday's recruiting notebook, switching it up into a Q&A style that leads into a running daylong chat. I will be out between 9:45 and 11, so apologies if they build up.
Q: Where were James Franklin, Bob Shoop, Josh Gattis, and Brent Pry Wednesday?
A: The Lions new head coach, defensive coordinator, receivers coach, and co-assistant head coach and lineabckers coach began their day at the New Jersey home of Jason Cabinda, taking advntage of a closed Hunterdon Central, before moving on to see receiver Chris Godwin in Middletown, Del. before a final stop to see Troy Reeder in Wilmington. From what we're told, all visits went well.
Q: What did Godwin think of his visit?
A: We weren't able to catch up with Cabinda, and Reeder simply said the visit went "really well", but we were able to get Godwin to expound on the stop.
"They were mainly trying to build a relationship with myself and my family," Godwin wrote in a message. "We talked about next year, but not much. They told me [the offense] was similar to O'Brien's, which I like because there's plenty of opportunities for wide receivers to excel."
