Weekend Recruiting Update

James Franklin and his staff are ready to host a big recruit gathering this weekend at University Park. Get the latest developments including who is expected to make the trip right here from FOS Recruiting Analyst Greg Pickel.

Although it's been noted multiple times previously, it's worth mentioning again that the coming visit weekend, set to kick off today, is expected to top the event Penn State hosted in December with Bill O'Brien still at the helm.

The way things are shaking up now, those recruits taking official visits will come for the standard Friday through Sunday stretch, while those taking unofficials will join the group on Saturday in most cases.

Whether some or all of the prospects coming Saturday will pay their way and stay overnight is not immediately clear.

Official Visits
(* indicates potential visitor)

LB Jason Cabinda (verbal who couldn't make the December event.)

DE Lloyd Tubman (confirmed to FOS Tuesday night he'd be in attendance; PSU coaches visited him on Thursday.)

OL Brendan Brosnan

CB Amani Oruwariye

QB Trace McSorley

CB Grant Haley

OT Chance Sorrell

OL Damian Prince* (RB commit Mark Allen is working to bring Prince along, however there has been word that he could likely make a midweek visit. There's no confirmation yet that he is coming or that it will be an official.)

WR Saeed Blacknall* (Indications are that he ends up visiting Rutgers this weekend, but stranger things have happened, but he remains strongly interested in PSU.)

S Koa Farmer* (Chose to visit PSU over Vanderbilt.)

RB Mikale Wilbon* (Unclear if he will visit Penn State, Missouri, or nowhere.)

Unofficial Visits
(* indicates prospect has not confirmed with FOS he is coming)

RB Mark Allen

Saf. Marcus Allen

OT Noah Beh - confirmed with OC John Donovan Wednesday night he was coming.

WR Chris Godwin

LB Troy Reeder (Plans to come, but a family event may not allow it.)

CB Daquan Worley (Confirmed to FOS Tuesday night he is coming up.)

RB Johnathan Thomas* (Mark Allen believes he's coming, but we haven't been able to confirm that. The back tweeted Tuesday night that RB coach Charlie Huff was coming to visit, so it seems fairly likely he'll be here.)

RB Nick Scott*

WR Troy Apke*

TE Mike Gesicki*

This will be intriguing event to see how Penn State's new staff collectively recruits and a major indicator in how they close out the 2014 class.

Stay tuned to FOS for continuing updates.
