FRANKLY SPEAKING: Thursday Recruiting Notes

Get the latest developments on Penn State football recruiting as National Signing Day approaches, including travel destinations and weekend plans for PSU.

Another week is coming to a close, and for Penn State, the travel will end a day early as it prepares to host another batch of visitors for the final time in the 2014 cycle.
2014 updates

We'll start with the weekend, and note the Jacksonville (Fla.) William M. Raines corner Lamont Simmons (pictured) has confirmed that he will visit Friday through Sunday on an official visit to University Park. I wasn't able to get much more out of him to see where the Lions stand, but he will be stopping by.

Moving west, we haven't heard back from California safety commit Koa Farmer nor the head coach of Tuscon (Ariz.) Sabino offensive tackle Andrew Mike, but Farmer did have an in-home with James Franklin and Bob Shoop Wednesday night.

Elsewhere, offensive line coach Herb Hand tweeted he was in Tuscon, as did Franklin, leading us to believe the duo stopped there earlier in the day.

I have no further update at this point on Alabama linebacker Torrence Brown and whether or not he will visit this weekend, but I'll be working on all these guys tomorrow.

In other news, Penn State will be at Fairfax (Va.) early Thursday morning to chat with running back commit Nick Scott.

Update on Trace McSorley

There was a thread started Wednesday regarding a tweet from class of 2014 Ashburn (Va.) Briar Woods quarterback commit Trace McSorley. It read, "Minor setback for a MAJOR comeback. I will come back stronger than ever from this. Can't wait to get back"
