The Big Ten released five player's to watch from each division Monday morning. Christian Hackenberg was one of them.
The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year and returning Nittany Lion quarterback was one of two signal callers selected to the east's list. He was joined by Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller, who was the only other passer named to the media selected list.
"It's definitely new, but I think unlike last year, I got through spring and that's good for this team and the offense to move forward," Hackenberg said after the Blue-White game in April.
"I'm going to prepare as best as I can, I'm going to go out an try and execute the best I can and whatever happens, happens," he added at Lift for Life.
Hackenberg threw for 2,955 yards and 20 touchdowns a fall ago, and also averaged 246.2 yards per game through the air.
Hackenberg made the list despite all the changes at the Lasch Building since Penn State upset Wisconsin 31-24 at Camp Randall to end its 2013 season. The quarterback, and his teammates, have said at every turn that they've taken a new coaching staff with new ideas in stride, and have already forged a bond with them.
"I'm going to prepare as best as I can, I'm going to go out an try and execute the best I can and whatever happens, happens."
Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah and defensive end Randy Gregory are joined by Wisconsin back Melvin Gordon and right tackle Rob Havenstein, plus Iowa offensive lineman Brandon Scherff, to make up the West's selections.
