Sizing Up the PSU Rookies

Check out our group photo of all for the Nittany Lion true freshmen in preseason camp.

A lot can happen between the time a college football prospect signs a Letter of Intent with a program in February and the start of preseason camp in August. And that sometimes means players who sign never land on campus.

However, with the first week of preseason camp behind us -- and the media getting its first chance to see everyone on the 105-man roster at Photo Day Sunday -- we can report that Penn State's scholarship Class of 2014 is all present and accounted for.

All 24 true freshmen in the class are on campus and practicing. So, too, is one junior college transfer (though DT Tarrow Barney is not a freshman). Further, nine rookie walk-ons are in camp.

You can see James Franklin's entire true freshman class in the photo below. In the caption, walk-ons are listed in italics.
