The Nittany Lions kicked off 2014 in exciting style, with a 26-24 win over UCF in Ireland. On top of this, it was a record day on many levels, including the 53,304 fans who set a record as Ireland's largest NCAA crowd ever beating Notre Dame vs Navy's crowd of 48,820 in 2012.

In terms of players QB Christian Hackenberg and freshman WR DaeSean Hamilton both set records on the day, Hackenberg's 454 yds broke PSU's single game passing yardage record set by Zack Mills' 399 vs. Iowa in 2002 and Hamilton with 152 receiving yards, which broke the freshman record set by Deon Butler's 125 yards against Wisconsin in 2005.
