PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Penn State beat Rutgers 13-10 Saturday in a game that was important on several levels.
• It was the Nittany Lions' 2014 Big Ten opener, and winning it allowed them to improve to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
• It was State's first game since it learned that the NCAA scholarship and postseason sanctions against the program had been dropped. The Lions are now three wins away from qualifying for their first bowl appearance since 2011.
• It was PSU's first conference game against new Big Ten member RU, a team whose fan base is desperately trying to create a rivalry between the two programs.
It was against that backdrop that FOS photographer Harvey Levine covered the event Saturday. And he got an exciting game.
