Hamilton Voted FOS Penn State POY

Nittany Lion fans tab redshirt frosh WR as Offensive Player of the Year in a landslide.

Redshirt freshman DaeSean Hamilton is having the greatest rookie season ever by a Penn State receiver.

With the Pinstripe Bowl remaining, Hamilton's 75 catches are already more than twice as many as the previous PSU freshman record (37, Deon Butler in 2005), and his 848 yards are already a rookie record and the 12th-most in school history. He has led the Big Ten in receptions all season and his 5.8 grabs per game lead all rookies nationally. He is only the second Nittany Lion to have more than 70 catches in a season (Allen Robinson did it twice). He won second-team All-Big Ten honors.

And now, he has been tabbed as the FOS Penn State Offensive Player of the Year in the vote of the people who matter most -- Nittany Lion fans.

Hamilton was a landslide winner in our online poll, garnering a greater percentage of the vote (71.6 percent) than all other candidates combined.

Here is how the vote broke down.

1. WR DaeSean Hamilton: 71.6%

2. QB Christian Hackenberg: 11.9%

3. RB Bill Belton: 2.6%

4. TE Jesse James: 1.1%

5. Write In: 12.7%
