BRONX, N.Y. -- Penn State's Christmas Eve practice for the Pinstripe Bowl was supposed to be held at Fordham's little Coffey Field here. But a deluge of rain forced the session indoors, to the even smaller field house in the nearby Vince Lombardi Center.
The Nittany Lions had to use some creativity as they prepared to face Boston College in Saturday's pinstripe bowl.
Spikes were traded in for sneakers. Football drills were conducted on the many basketball courts. Little orange cones served as boundaries. And there was no live kicking -- just kickers and punters pretending to kick, and return men fielding thrown balls.
None of which seemed to bother head coach James Franklin, his staff or the Nittany Lions.
