Penn State's dominate the state mantra will carry over to the 2015 Big 33 Football Classic. Seven future Nittany Lions are on the Pennsylvania squad, which was announced Friday.
No other major-college program has more than three signees on the PA roster.
RB Saquon Barkley (shown above), DE Ryan Buchholz, LB Jake Cooper, DE Kevin Givens, DE Shareef Miller and DB Johnny Petrishen are all Nittany Lion scholarship players who will be representing the Keystone State. Also on the roster is LB Jan Johnson, who will be joining the PSU program as a walk-on.
Interestingly, DB John Reid and RB Andre Robinson, two of the top four players in the state and both Lion signees, are not on the roster. Both had injury issues in 2014, though. Four-star OL Ryan Bates and three-star TE Nick Bowers are the other PSU signees who were not named to the team. Bates played in the Under Armour All-America Game in early January.
Nittany Lion Sterling Jenkins was considered the top offensive lineman in the state. But he graduated from high school early and is already enrolled at PSU, so he is not eligible for the game.
Pennsylvania takes on Maryland in the 2015 Big 33 Classic in Hershey, Pa., June 20. The game kicks off at 7:06 p.m.
Pitt (three), Rutgers (three), Maryland (two) and Virginia (two) are the other major-college program with multiple signees in the game.
