Penn State Getting Back in Recruiting Groove

James Franklin and the Nittany Lions are holding a huge Junior Day later this week. Get the lowdown right here.

After a relatively quiet few weeks following Signing Day, things are about to heat up for Penn State on the recruiting front. This Saturday, the Nittany Lions are holding what could go down as the most-attended Junior Day in program history.

Junior Days are a chance for high school juniors (and other underclassmen) to visit college programs unofficially (meaning they pay their own way) during the offseason. Typically, it is a relatively small group, like the 20 or so prospects who were at PSU for a Junior Day in January.

But this week, the number of visitors is likely to exceed 60.

Did we mention things are heating up?

Confirmed visitors include Penn State Class of 2016 commits Miles Sanders and Shane Simmons. Fellow commit LaVert Hill intends to make the trip (with several other prospects from Michigan) provided no travel issues arise.

We use the word “expected” above because these lists tend to change right up until the day prospects are supposed to arrive. Prospects who say they are going to attend sometimes pull out at the last minute, while others wait until a day or so before the event to confirm they will attend.

But for now, these are many of the visitors we expect to be on hand (after we and the recruiting crew talked to players, coaches and parents). We will update this list with additions and changes as we learn of them, so check back throughout the week.
