Alabama LB Will Ignont Talks Penn State

The Class of 2017 prospect is well aware of the Nittany Lions’ “Linebacker U" tradition.

Penn State has entered the race for Buckhorn (Ala.) High inside linebacker Will Ignont.

The 6-foot-2, 232-pound Class of 2017 prospect already held offers from SEC powers Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi State, as well as Nebraska.

A recent Nittany Lion offer came from linebackers coach Brent Pry, and Ignont saw it coming.

"Coach Pry told me he was offering me,” Ignont said. “I wasn't surprised by the offer, but I was just excited to receive one from Penn State. They're on the come up. Coach (James) Franklin is a great coach. He did a great job at Vanderbilt and I expect him do the same with Penn State."

Ignont is well aware of Penn State's “Linebacker U” tradition.

"It's a great university and they have a history of putting linebackers in the league,” he said. “Penn State has the most linebackers in the NFL."

Ignont has never been to Happy Valley but intends to get there in the future.

"I plan on visiting Penn State sometime next summer," he said. “I think they will have a good shot of getting me in the Blue and White.”

Ignont is likely to narrow his list to a top 10 something this season, but wants to hold off on picking a school until shortly before his senior year.
