Former NFL head and assistant coach Jim Haslett is working as an advisor for Penn State this season. At the Nittany Lions' Media Day Thursday, head coach James Franklin discussed Haslett's role with the program.
The recipe for Haslett landing in Happy Valley was fairly simple.
His father-in-law lives in the area. His son will be a senior quarterback at nearby Indiana University of Pennsylvania this fall. And, after parting ways with the Washington Redskins following last season (he was defensive coordinator), he is still being paid by the organization.
So Haslett is basically working at PSU for free.
Franklin talks about Haslett's role with the program -- and what he can and cannot do -- above.
