Penn State four-star defensive end commit Shane Simmons excelled as his No. 5 DeMatha Catholic team whipped No. 2 Miami Central 38-14 in an intersectional game in Landover, Md., Saturday. He was making tackles all over the field, many of them in the backfield, and even caught a pass as a tight end on offense.
All of this in front of a national TV audience, as the game was carried live by ESPN. Playing in its season opener, DeMatha built a 38-0 lead before Simmons and the rest of the starters headed to the bench to allow the reserves to take over.
