H-Burg 2017 DE Barber Talks Penn State

The Keystone State standout is already very familiar with James Franklin and the Nittany Lions.

Harrisburg (Pa.) High defensive end Damion Barber is a major Penn State target in the Class of 2017.

The 6-foot-4 220-pound, four-star already holds an offer from PSU, but is receiving interest from some new schools, including: UCLA, Wake Forest, Purdue, Indiana and FSU.

The nearby Nittany Lions have been in close contact.

“Last week, I spoke to Coach (James) Franklin, Coach (Brent) Pry and Coach (Sean) Spencer,” Barber said. “All three coaches told me they want come back to for a visit. The plan is to come for Michigan White Out game with my mom.”

Barber is the top-ranked defensive end in the East for his class and checks in at No. 14 nationally. He is No. 201 in the Scout 300 for 2017. He has made multiple visits to Penn State, including a trip in July for the Lasch Bash and a camp appearance in June.

He’s still mulling when he might make a college commitment, but does not expect it to happen any time soon.

“I’m thinking of committing after this season,” he said. “I could wait until Signing Day, as well.”

Barber has yet to establish a top five or 10, and is not listing any favorites.
