ALERT: PSU Rises In Hoops Recruiting Rankings

Pat Chambers is taking Nittany Lion basketball recruiting to places never before seen in Happy Valley.

Penn State basketball fans may want to cue the Star Trek intro. Because head coach Pat Chambers is taking the Nittany Lions to strange new worlds never before seen in Happy Valley.

We're talking about men's basketball recruiting, of course.

Scout.com came out with their preliminary Class of 2016 rankings Monday, and Penn State checked in at … gulp … No. 15.

The Nittany Lions are the second-ranked Big Ten team, trailing only No. 5 Michigan State.

Here is what Scout.com's Evan Daniel had to say about Penn State's class, which includes three players so far.

Trend: NEW
Patrick Chambers and his staff have ramped up their recruiting efforts and getting a player like Tony Carr, a top 50 prospect, is a big deal. He'll be handed the ball from day one, as he's terrific PG prospect with good size, speed, athleticism and ball handling ability.
Key verbals: PG Tony Carr (#37 ), SG Nazeer Bostick (#NR ), C Joe Hampton (#NR )
