Penn State Women's Volleyball Sweeps Stanford

No. 1 Penn State's women's volleyball team beats No. 2 Stanford in dominating fashion.

The NCAA's top two women's volleyball teams, No.1 Penn State and No. 2 Stanford had a showdown on Saturday night in Rec Hall in front of 6,055 fans. In what was anticipated to be an epic battle ended up as a dominating performance by the Nittany Lions as PSU swept the Cardinal in three sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-18).

PSU's charge was led by senior Aiyana Whitney and sophomore Haliegh Washington. Whitney had 13 kills in the match and was instrumental in providing Penn State with momentum aganst several of Stanford's surges in the match.

On the year, Penn State is 5-0 and has not surrendered a set this season. Next, the Lions head to South Bend, Indiana on September 11 for the Golden Dome Invitational where they will play Eastern Kentucky, Mississippi State and Notre Dame.
