Stevens Adds To Penn State's Roman Empire

Four-star forward Lamar Stevens is the third players from Philadelphia Roman Catholic to commit to the Nittany Lion class that will sign in November.

Penn State’s pipeline into Philadelphia powerhouse Roman Catholic High erupted again Friday, when four-star forward Lamar Stevens committed to the Nittany Lions.

Pat Chambers’ program is now set to sign three players from the defending AAAA state champs in early November — Stevens (right, below), four-star guard Tony Carr (center) and three-star guard Nazeer Bostick (left).

Those three players alone would constitute one of the best PSU recruiting classes in history. Add in Oak Hill (Va.) Academy three-star forward and Lion commit Joe Hampton, and you’re looking at a class that will be pushing for a top-15 ranking nationally.

In the latest ratings — before Stevens committed — PSU had the nation’s No. 19 class.

Penn State sophomore guard Shep Garner also hails from Roman Catholic.
