Penn State Fans Name Barkley Their Player of the Rutgers Game

For the second consecutive week Nittany Nation fans voted freshman running back Saquon Barkley their FOS Player of the Game, this time for his stellar primetime performance against Rutgers.

Penn State fans thanked freshman running back Saquon Barkley for his primetime performance under the lights in Beaver Stadium against Rutgers. Barkley's 195 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries were a mere 13 yards away from the freshman singel-game rushing record for PSU, set by Shelly Hammonds with 208 yards against Boston College in 1990. 

Barkley not only rolled up yards, but also votes, grabbing 50.5 percent of fan ballots, running away from the offensive line who had nearly 29 percent of the vote. Aside from receiving his second FOS Player of the Game honor, Barkley has also been named Freshman Player of the Week in back-to-back games by the Bug Ten.

The Fight On State Player of the Game honor is the first and longest running Penn State player award given by Nittany Lion fans. Voting is conducted exclusviely at after Penn State football games.
