Penn State-SDSU: Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short in the Nittany Lions’ victory over the Azrecs?

Our report card from Penn States 37-21 win over San Diego State.

OVERALL: Given the injury issues, were grading on a bit of a curve here. A 16-point win is a 16-point win.

Grade: B-

OFFENSE: Even with the top two RBs lost to injury, the offense left a lot of scoring meat on the bone.

Grade: C+

DEFENSE: The three TDs allowed are deceiving. One came on special teams, another on a short field after a special teamsblunder.

Grade: B+

SPECIAL TEAMS: Penn States special teams did an excellent job of keeping SDSU in the game. Big step backward after an excellent effort vs. Rutgers.

Grade: D-

COACHING: We didnt really think PSUs problems in this game had anything to do with schemes or play calling.

Grade: B

INTANGIBLES: Even when the Lions fell behind 14-13 in the second quarter, you never did get the feeling they were in any sort of trouble.

Grade: B+

OTHER GUY: The Aztecs played hard. Difficult to believe they lost to Alabama State at home.

Grade: C

OFFICIALS: Some dicey stuff both ways.

Grade: C

CROWD: Not a lot of juice in the crowd announced at 95,107. Were guessing it was at least 10,000 less than that.

Grade: C
