Penn State's Chambers On The Lions' Recent Recruiting Success

Penn State is set to sign its best recruiting class ever. This after landing a solid group last year. Head coach Pat Chambers chimes in on why things are on the upswing in Happy Valley.

Penn State’s 2015-16 basketball season tips off Nov. 14, when VMI visits the Jordan Center. But there is a much more important date looming for the Nittany Lions.

The early signing period for college basketball starts Nov. 11 (and runs through Nov. 18). When it gets here, fifth-year PSU coach Pat Chambers is expected to sign the best recruiting class in the modern history of the program.

As of this writing, Penn State’s four-man class checked in at No. 10 in Scout.com’s national rankings. It was the second-best group in the Big Ten, trailing only Michigan State’s class.

This following last year’s impressive class, which included four-star wing Josh Reaves, three-star center Mike Watkins and three-star shooter Deividas Zemgulis — who are all now true freshmen in the program.

So why are things clicking for the Nittany Lions on the recruiting front? We recently put that question to Chambers.
