Penn State played host to Virginia Beach (Va.) Frank W. Cox High junior defensive tackle Jordan Williams Saturday. Williams was in attendance when the Nittany Lions beat Indiana, 29-7.
Williams (6-foot-5, 240 pound) not only left with a great impression of what PSU football is all about, but also picked up an offer.
“I had no idea an offer was coming my way,” Williams said. “Coach (James) Franklin told me they looked at my film and transcript. Franklin and the assistants said they liked me as an individual and thought I would be an ideal football player at Penn State. Franklin offered me a full scholarship right then. My parents were extremely excited about the offer.”
Williams said Penn State left a glowing impression on him.
“It was amazing,” he reported. “The atmosphere was unbelievable. Meeting the coaches and taking the campus tour is one thing I love about my visit.”
The visit started with breakfast inside the recruiting lounge at Beaver Stadium. The recruits then went to the sideline to see warm-ups and later watch the team come out of the tunnel. After the game they went into the locker room and took a campus tour.
Williams is already thinking about a return visit to Happy Valley.
“We are most likely coming back for the White Out game against Michigan,” he said.
Williams is not sure if he’ll visit anyone else this season. He currently has no favorites and is no hurry on making a decision.
