Penn State-Ohio State: Brennan Report Card

Who made the grade and who came up short at the Nittany Lions fell to the top-ranked Buckeyes at the Horseshoe? We let you know.

COLUMBUS, Ohio Our report card from Penn States 38-10 loss to Ohio State here.

OVERALL: We actually saw some flashes of what the Lions can be against a powerhouse team. Alas, we also saw why OSU is a powerhouse team right now and PSU is not.

Grade: C-

OFFENSE: Yes, Saquon Barkley was terrific and the O-line looked good in run blocking. And Chris Godwin continues to impress (see above). But there were too many blown opportunities and mistakes.

Grade: D+

DEFENSE: Again, there were some terrific things. But we get the sense that if J.T. Barrett had played the entire game for the Buckeyes, things could have gotten really ugly.

Grade: C

SPECIAL TEAMS: Not sure weve ever seen so stark a difference between one teams punt team and the others. OSUs Cameron Johnston controlled field position. PSUs punters gave it away.

Grade: D-

COACHING: The Lions were ready for the bright lights. They just could not sustain anything.

Grade: C-

INTANGIBLES: Nobody stepped up to make the REALLY big play that could have swung things Penn States way.

Grade: C

OTHER GUY: This is probably as well as Ohio State has played all season. But we still get the sense the Buckeyes dont quite have it all together.

Grade: B+

OFFICIALS: Another PSU-OSU game, another blown replay call.

Grade: D

CROWD: The Black Out crowd was good. But it didnt really rattle the Lions outside of one bad snap.

Grade: B+
