Penn State Pounds Illinois To Improve to 7-2

The Nittany Lions hammered the Illini at Beaver Stadium Saturday for their fourth Big Ten victory of the season.

Penn State hammered Illinois 39-0 at Beaver Stadium Saturday to improve to 7-2 on the season and 4-1 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lion assured themselves of another winning record and have doubled their conference win total of 2014.

"Nothing is easy in the Big Ten, but I thought we capitalized on some opportunities today,” PSU coach James Franklin said.

QB Christian Hackenberg led PSU by hitting on 21 of 29 passes for 266 yards and two scores. He also caught his first career TD pass.

"I thought Hack was awesome today," Franklin said.

RB Saquon Barkley carried 20 times for 84 yards, including a spectacular 13-yard score (see above).

It was PSU's first shutout since 2013.

"We're gonna enjoy this win,” Franklin said.
