BRENNAN REPORT CARD: Penn State vs. Illinois

Who made the grade and who came up short as the Nittany Lions put a Halloween hurting on the Illini? We let you know.

Our report card from Penn States 39-0 beating of Illinois.

OVERALL: This game was far from perfect, but the results speak for themselves. Nice job by most from PSUs perspective.

Grade: A

OFFENSE: Christian Hackenberg and company again took what an opponent was giving. And they kept right on taking to blow it open.

Grade: A-

DEFENSE: Illinois never got past the PSU 33, and its deepest drive ended at the PSU 40 (thanks to yardage lost on a fumble).

Grade: A

SPECIAL TEAMS: The good (especially Koa Farmers kickoff return) was more than offset by the bad (two missed PATs, two kickoffs out of bounds, a muffed punt).

Grade: D+

COACHING: Aside from the special teamsissues — which were not a factor in the outcome Saturday good work on both sides of the ball.

Grade: A

INTANGIBLES: Penn State definitely had its mojo going in this one.

Grade: A

OTHER GUY: Boy, did Tim Beckman do a number on this program. Almost feel bad for the Illini now that hes gone.

Grade: F

OFFICIALS: Give em credit for keeping things moving in the second half.

Grade: B

CROWD: So much for coming 107,000 strong every game. Two straight road trips prior to this one, then a road game and open date after it, and thats all the folks who bothered to show up?

Grade: C
