Penn State LBs Coach Brent Pry's Scout Team Scouting Report

The Nittany Lion assistant talks about sophomore QB Trace McSorley and a host of true freshmen who are playing well in practice.

Penn State linebackers coach Brent Pry held a media conference call Thursday, and was asked about the jobs sophomore Trace McSorley and freshman Tommy Stevens were doing helping the Nittany Lions to prepare for mobile Northwestern quarterback Clayton Thorson. PSU travels to Evanston, Ill., to take on the Wildcats Saturday.

To be clear, McSorley is not actually on the Nittany Lion scout team, but has been running a series of read option plays (along with the first-team offense) against State's starting defense. The staff decided to do this after the team struggled against running QBs from Ohio State and Maryland.

But Stevens, who is redshirting, has been running the scout team all season. So we decided to ask Pry who else among the redshirting freshmen was looking good in practice. He gave us a very detailed answer. Check it out above.
