Penn State fans thanked freshman running back Saquon Barkley for his impressive road performance against Northwestern. Barkley rushed for 120 yards (80 in the fourth quarter) on 25 carries, scoring two touchdowns and caught six passes for another 50 yards. Both of his scores were run out of the wildcat formation.
Barkley is approaching Penn State freshman rushing record. Currently hes No. 2 on the list with 837 yards, needed 167 yards in his final two contests to break the 1,002 mark set by DJ Dozier in 1983.
Barkley not had a strong performance in the game against the Northwestern, but also with the Nittany Nation vote, grabbing 54 percent of the fan ballots. He edged out defensive tackle Austin Johnson who grabbed 32 percent of the vote. This was Barkley's third FOS Player of the Game honor this season. Previously he was honored for his performances against Buffalo and Rutgers.
