Meet Penn State Rookie Guard Josh Reaves

The Nittany Lion true freshman will start in the season-opener vs. VMI. Get to know him via our video interview.

Josh Reaves is beginning his Penn State career as a starter.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound former four-star prospect from Oak Hill Academy in Virginia made a statement with his play in the preseason. So the true freshman is getting the nod at shooting guard when the Nittany Lions open against VMI at the Jordan Center Saturday (1 p.m.).

Sophomore point guard Shep Garner, the last PSU rookie to begin his career as a starter, said Reaves earned the job.

“Josh, he brings intensity,” Garner said. “That kid, he plays hard — 110 percent — all the time. He’s very vicious on defense. … He’s guarding you hard in the passing lanes, getting steals. He does a whole lot for this basketball team, and we appreciate it.”
