Penn State is staging Return To Rec Part 2 x2 this week.
No, that is not some crazy math problem, but rather the best way to explain the Nittany Lions' two-game homestand at old Rec Hall on the west side of campus. Canisius will be in the house for a 7 p.m. tip Thursday and Louisana-Monroe visits Saturday (2 p.m.).
Penn State played its home games in Rec Hall from 1929 through 1996 before moving to the Jordan Center. The gym, which is now used for volleyball, wrestling and gymnastics, currently seats 6,846 for basketball.
The university is renting a basketball floor and baskets to use in the gym, both of which were installed throughout the early morning and into the afternoon Wednesday.
The Nittany Lions previously played a Return To Rec Game in 2013. The event was considered a rousing success — except for the fact that PSU came from ahead to lose to Princeton in a heartbreaker.
In the video above, Penn State coach Pat Chambers talks about the latest Return To Rec games.
