Penn State Hockey Advances In Polls

Penn State men's hockey moves up in the rankings thanks to a dominating performance over Princeton.

After a dominating 6-3 victory over Princeton on Friday, the Penn State men's hockey team advanced to 11-2-3 on the season, its best start as a Division I program. The Nittany Lions are currently No. 9 in the PairWise Rankings, which mirror the NCAA's rankings for the tournament selection process. PSU has also advanced to No. 14 in the poll that came out December 14, up two spots from its previous ranking of No. 16.

Penn State is currently the second ranked Big Ten squad, behind No. 10 Michigan in the poll. Penn State holds the top Bi Ten position in the PairWise Rankings, with Michigan No. 14 and Minnesota toed for No. 20.

The Nittany Lions next face off in the Three Rivers Classic against Robert Morris (PairWise No. 29) on December 28 and UMass Lowell (PairWise No. 10) or Clarkson (PairWise No. 26) on December 29.
