FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — The good news for Penn State fans following the Nittany Lions' first practice in Florida for the Jan. 2 TaxSlayer Bowl vs, Georgia was what junior defensive tackle Austin Johnson had to say about his big decision on whether to enter the NFL Draft a year early.
"As of right now, I'm staying,” he said. That train of throught came after he received an official evaluatuon on where he might go in the draft, as well as a discussion with his mom, PSU head coach James Franklin and D-line coach Sean Spencer.
The not-so-good news? Johnson admitted his has yet to make a final decision.
"I'm just focused on Georgia,” he said. "Focused on trying to win against a really good team.”
