Penn State DC Bob Shoop: "I Don't Plan On Going Anywhere"

Though he'd like to be a head coach again someday, the Nittany Lion assistant said he has not interviewed anywhere (and does not intend to interview anywhere) this year.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — After a pre-TaxSlayer Bowl pratctice here Tuesday, Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop joked that his "dream job" had opened up.

"I saw the play-by-play announcer for the Pirates left,” the long-suffering fan of MLB's Pittsburgh club told reporters.

This was in response to a question about whether he had interviewed — or intended to interview — anywhere else this year. LSU tried to lure Shoop away last year, but PSU head coach James Franklin helped his top assistant land a big raise and Shoop opted to stay in Happy Valley. It does not appear as if there will be any such drama this year.

After joking about his dream job, Shoop addressed the question directly.

"No is the simple answer to that question,” he said. "I don't plan on going anywhere.”

He also talked about potentially becoming a head coach (again) someday, the possibility of linebackers coach Brent Pry landing a new job and more. Check it out above.
